Celebrating the life of
Sandra Babs Arnold Meyers
Passed away on July 21, 2025

On July 21, 2025, Our beloved Sandra, age 79, gained her heavenly wings peacefully while surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted, faithful, and steadfast daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. Sandra had a constant and unwavering love for her children and grandchildren as they were the reason for her daily drive and center of her life.
Sandra is the daughter of George and Elizabeth “Libby” Arnold and sister to Pamela Boykin Arnold and Susan ”Jet” Arnold Tetreault. Sandra was born and raised in Savannah, Ga, and was deeply rooted in her Savannah heritage as she grew up surrounded by her family in midtown Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School where she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Herman “Hermie” Meyers. She then went onto the most important chapter of her life thus far and raised her three children. Sandra was a member of the Calvary Baptist Temple. She was employed at the credit department at Levy Jewelers, Memorial Medical Center, worked with her son at Savannah Sweets, and Palmer and Cay Carswell, before retiring and working alongside her beloved husband at their family business, Southern Golf Car. Of all of her jobs, her next vital and beloved role became that of being a grandmother to her 12 grandchildren.
Her 12 grandchildren feel so blessed and honored to have been able to call their “Grammy-MeMe” theirs. Sandra's time with her children and grandchildren was cherished as she was an avid supporter of local Savannah schools including Calvary Day School, St. James Catholic School, Benedictine Military School, St. Vincent’s Academy, and Collierville Highschool of Memphis, TN, where she boldly cheered on her grandchildren at their sporting events whether it was soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, dance, equestrian, baseball, or football games. Sandra’s determination, work ethic, independence, and love of family built a foundation that will last her children and grandchildren a lifetime as her lessons she taught will be carried on for generations to come.
She was a loyal supporter of Braves Baseball and Georgia Football. Sandra was an active member and consistent patron of the “Carey Hillard’s To-Go Club”. Our memories that bring upon the biggest smiles are those of her blaring music by Alan Jackson, rewatching the beach volleyball scene in Top Gun, her collection of 200+ Madame Alexander Dolls, roosters, and magnets of where all her grandchildren had traveled. Our most cherished days were spent as a family as she watched her young grandchildren swim in Moon River and play on the dock where her and Herman - “Papa” built their forever home where everlasting love and celebrations took place. Our “Mom, MeMe, Grammys’” contagious laughter and memories will live on forever as we continue to tell her stories and the impact she left on this world, she will forever be our sassy dancing queen guiding us through life. She is preceded in Heaven by her parents George and Libby Arnold, sister Pam Arnold, and husband Herman Meyers. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law; Herman Kevin Meyers, Rodney Trent and Joanna Meyers, a daughter; Sandra Michelle Meyers Smeltzer; 12 grandchildren, Katheryn, Christopher, Matthew, Marygrace, Nicholas, Michael, Emilye, Ashley, Hayley, Claire, Bryson (Kelsie), and Tynley; a sister Susan “Jet” Arnold Tetreault; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and her loyal dog Zoe.
The family will receive friends and family from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Friday July 25, 2025 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home, Hodgson Chapel with a funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sandra's grandsons; Bryson Smeltzer, Christopher, Matthew, Nicholas, and Michael Meyers.
Sandra's family would like to thank all of their family and friends for their continued love and support during this time.
So glad I was able to see Sandra in the hospital. She and your dad were so kind to me when John passed away. Will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
